Nov. 1st, 2004, Our 1st Playdate...
We started out at Alma's lovely home. We broke some rules and had yummy desserts first, including frog egg salad and "moldy" twinkies! We decided on our name (no "ho-ho's" here!) after lots of laughing and deliberation. We had a GREAT time....feathers flew and bubbles blew!

FIRST WE HAD A BUFFET OF DESSERTS.......
We then took our 1st "flight" in public to Ground Round to flutter our colorful wings for all to see!  At the resturant, we had a Red-octrination ceremony where we not-so-solemnly swore (with our right hands firmly atop out hatted heads) to learn to spit, wear our "colors", fine-tune our kazoo-playng skills, and a couple other silly things!!  We made a hearty attempt at a few "songs" on our instruments, after some of us figured out which end to blow!!
We had a visiting Queen, Alice of Onederland, from the Very Madd Hatters, a chapter in Smithsburg, MD and she was quite a delight to have along!
.........THEN appetizers at Ground Round!!

 NOVEMBER 2004
On November 20 a few of us met with Queen Alice and her girls from Smithsburg MD and carpooled to the Boyd's Bear Factory in Gettysburg PA.  It was an absolute gorgeous site, all decorated for the holidays, live music being played, and warm fuzzy bears and such everywhere you turned!!
We had time to shop, and then met for lunch in the resturant there.  Our meals were delicious, and we ran into and sat next to another Red Hat group from somewhere in MD. so....with our 18 ladies and their 15 all sitting together there was purple and red as far as the near-sighted eye could see!!!
Some of the ladies went on to shop at the local outlets there and found some great bargains, I hear!!  It was a lovely, fun Saturday, a nice break from the pre-holiday rush and bustle!!

 December 2004 Holiday Playtime
For our December playtime we all met at Bob Evans Resturant for yummy dinner and desserts.  We found out more (sometimes too much more!! hehe!!) about each other playing a "Naughty and Nice" game.  Very Fun indeed!!  We had a gift exchange and brought home some awesome things.
Alice, who is queen of her own Red Hat chapter, said she had so much fun with us, she wanted to join our chapter, so she is now an honorary Iron Butterfly!  Queen Cheryl decreed it, and it was so!!
The Royal Highness of Hilarity (our queen) bestowed upon everyone their royal un-official titles and dubbed them using her new pink and lavendar sceptor that Honorable Hysterian Crystal gave her.  You can see what our titles are on the members page.  We made plans for who would plan the next few months outtings.
We laughed a lot, played our kazoos some and just enjoyed a break from the holiday rush and spent quality time with each other!!

January 2005 Play Time!!
Happy New Year!!
Our 1st time to play together this year, we braved the cold (like 15 below with the wind, I think! Bbrrr!) and met at Matriarch Mom Alma's house.  We proceeded to whip out our guns (glue!), unroll our chains (of pearls and beads!) and made designer purses, complete with satin, beads, feathers, pompoms, and other embelishments!!  You are saying, perhaps, "How do you make a purse out of these things?!"  Well, you use a BRA, of course!!  Yes, we made bra purses, and boy, did we have fun doing it!!  This was one time we could honestly say that cup size didn't matter!!
We then hung our purse creations to dry, bundled up and went to Fratelli's Italian Cafe for a nice, yummy dinner, and more fun and chatting!  Only a few of us we able to come this time, but we had a blast just the same!!

 February/March 2005
Due to Mother Nature, our Feb playdate was actually in March.  We braved another freezing evening and all met at TGI Friday's for an evening filled with fun, friendship, and silliness.  This was a casual playtime since it was kind of a quickly rescheduled "snow date".
Three new hatters, Susan M., Jackie, and Bonnie, joined us for the 1st time!!  All of them took our not-so-solemn vows and are now esteemed Iron Butterflies!!  We welcomed them with hugs and a hearty toot-toot on our kazoos!!
We had a blast playing Truths and Lies, sharing fun facts and fibs with each other!  Our dinners were awesome, and desserts were sinfully good as well.  We all left full and happy, looking forward to our next playdate later this month!!
Again, welcome to our newest sisters in silliness!!

MANY THANKS TO OUR BARONESS OF BAGS, JACKIE, FOR PLANNING THIS OUTTING, AND THANKS AGAIN TO CUP O' JOE FOR A GREAT EVENING!!

 JUNE 2005
WE STARTED OFF SUMMER IN YUMMY CULINARY STYLE!!  WE MET AT AN ESTABLISHED PLACE IN HAGERSTOWN, A RESTURAUNT CALL "ALWAYS RON'S" (FORMERLY RON'S DELI) FOR BEVERAGES (SOME ADULT!), DINNER AND DESSERT.  TALK ABOUT DELICIOUS!! THEIR TUESDAY SPECIALS WERE AN A.Y.C.E. CHICKEN SLIPPERY POT PIE MEAL AND A CRAB LEGS FOR TWO DINNER!!  I THINK WE ALL HAD DOGGY BAGS TO TAKE HOME, AND SOME OF US DON'T EVEN HAVE A DOG!!
WE PLAYED A FUN "I-B-R-H-S" GAME (actually B-I-N-G-O) AND CRYSTAL, HONORABLE HYSTERIAN WON A CUTE LITTLE PIC FRAME FOR HER DESK AT WORK!
QUEEN CHERYL HELD A HANDS-ON GROUP LESSON ON WHAT SHOULD GO INTO EVERY LADIES UN-OFFICIAL RED HAT SURVIVAL KIT.  IT WAS QUITE INFORMATIVE (HE-HE-HE), AND INCLUDED SOME MUST-HAVES SUCH AS A PAPER CLIP, A TWIST PRETZEL, 2 COTTON BALLS (LIZ!), STARBURST CANDY, A LITTLE BLUE PILL (CRYSTAL!) JUST TO NAME A FEW.  EVERY LADY ATTENDING WAS GIVEN HER OWN PERSONAL KIT TO TAKE HOME WITH HER, SINCE IT IS "SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST" IN THIS WACKY WORLD, YA KNOW?!
WE ARE ALL LOOKING FORAWRD TO NEXT MONTH...SOME OF US MAY TAKE A TRIP TO GETTYSBURG FOR RED HAT SOCIETY DAYS JULY 23 & 24.  OUR REGULAR MONTHLY PLAY DATE IS ALWAYS ON THE LAST TUES OF THE MONTH!  COME JOIN US ANY TIME!!

JULY 2005
This month we all got together at the Duchess of Dining Brenda's lovely home for some delectible taste treats!!  We got to nibble on and sample all sorts of bread, cakes, sauces, dips, etc.  (Strawberry Rhubarb spread and Chocolate Chocolate sauce...Yum Yum...and how about that cheese ball, girls?!!)  Our hostess with the mostess gave us some wonderful ideas and recipe tips to make things "tastefully simple".
We had a favorite recipe exchange, everyone bringing copies to share with our sisters, and we each told what made these recipes our favorite.
We played 2 games: one that told us what our favorite type of cake tells about our personality.  The other was a pass-the-bread-mix game, and our Matriarch Mom got the prize on that one...quite fun!!
There were 2 new ladies to recieve their rub-a dub-"dubbing" this month!!  Yeah!!  Liz's new royal title is COWntess of Caring and Sharmon is hereto and forever more our Dancin' Diva!!  Both are pink hatters, so our group has quite a few "ladies in waiting" now....look out, age 50, here we come!!
We discussed our next months playdate (check future events here on our site) and a secret sister card exchange from now til the end of the year!!  The fun will never stop if we keep at it, girls!!
Much thanks and big Iron Butterfly hugs to our Duchess for an awesome evening filled with fun and laughter!!

August 2005

THANK YOU to Jo and Jan for our playtime this month!!  We had so much fun!  Each of us got a Red Hat change purse that is so cute!!

They cooked great burgers and really awesome weineys (big!! yeah baby!!), had drinks, the best Jello shooters!  A few of us had so many we probably jiggled when we wiggled out of there toward home!!  Everyone else brought yummy things as well, and we had no duplications, so we did good!  Everything was yummy!

We played a few fun games, and had the 1st of probably more to come "Torching of the Tampons" on the grill to comemorate my hystericalectomy I had earlier this summer!  Make a note to yourself:  if in a snowstorm and in need of a fire, don't rely on your plug to provide it!  You'd think all that cotton type stuff would lite up quick...not!!  We had fun, just the same, and had a lot of laughs and bubbles, thanks to a handy dandy bubble machine!!

We missed those of you who couldn't come.

September 2005
This month was another quickly re-planned casual playdate.  We had so much fun at Always Ron's a few months ago, we decided to go back again.  We all had delicious dinners (no crab leg specials this time, though...waaa!) and some indulged in dessert.

All the girls brought their purses chuck full of stuff, even more than usual, and we had a crazy purse scavenger hunt game.  Baroness of Bags Jackie, who could also be named Seductress of Shopping, had almost 60 of the items asked for in the game!!  Let me tell ya, she had a pile of stuff all over her end of the table!!  Not one lady, however, had the kitchen sink---go figure!!

We agreed to have our Oct playdate the 1st Tues in Nov since a special guest will be in town then...check out our Future Playdates page for more info, and come join in our fun!!

As always, we missed those Butterflies who were flitting around somewhere else and couldn't join us.
